This is a practice with deep longevity. Dance was upheld as our most important form of cultural wealth. We fought so hard to carry it forward. I certainly will always work my hardest and do my best to honor that legacy, and that is all I can hope to do, but it’s not always what is understood. That can make people uncomfortable. The hardest part is when we find those gaps.”
